Jurong to house 700MW DC park

Singapore is allocating 20 hectares of land on Jurong Island to house a 700MW data centre park, its largest such park.

The country has currently 1.4GW capacity across 70 data centres and a further 300MW is being added in phases and is the immediate target.

The new 700MW is additional capacity but it is unclear if there are target dates for the operation of these facilities. “Operators can leverage (Jurong Island’s) ecosystem, such as shared energy storage infrastructure and utilities, ample power capacity as well as emerging low-carbon energy sources,” the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and industrial landlord JTC said in a statement.

The government will also allocate 300 hectares of land on Jurong for renewable energy projects. These include sources, sustainable aviation fuel, low-or-zero carbon ammonia solutions for power generation and maritime bunkering, as well as battery storage.
