Kanden/Sparx in BESS JV
Kansai Electric Power is partnering with Sparx Group and JA Mitsui Leasing to develop two battery energy storage systems in the Kanto and Chubu regions.

The projects are the Hamamatsu BESS project with 30MW/110.3 MWh capacity in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka prefecture and the Mito BESS with 50MW/175.5MWh in Mito City, Ibaraki prefecture.
The projects are targeted to commence operation in June 2028 and June 2029, respectively. They are not likely to participate in the long-term decarbonisation auction or use other subsidies, according to reports. TSE-listed Sparx Group is an investment company with more than 400MW of operational FIT/FIP renewable energy assets. JA Mitsui Leasing is an active player in the battery storage sector.
