French utility EDF acquired the Banana Range project in May last year from Goldwind and Lacour Energy as its first Australian asset. At the time, EDF said it aimed to start construction this year. However, it now plans to start construction in 2024, for operations from 2026. The project is near Biloela in the Banana Shire in the Central Queensland renewable energy zone. The project website says it would include battery energy storage and the project already has its development approvals. The Queensland government is aiming for the state to be 50% powered by renewables by 2030.
