Duke Energy has signed a power purchase agreement with Chicago-based renewables developer Ranger Power for up to 199MW of solar power and has applied for approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
The 20-year deal covers the entire output of Ranger’s Speedway solar project near Gwynneville, Indiana. Construction is under way and the project is expected to come online in 2025. Under Duke’s most recent resource plan, the company is proposing to add more than 2.2MW of solar power, 450MW of solar with storage, and 6.2GW of wind energy.
