WestWind Energy is planning the Wimmera Renewable Energy Solutions project in Victoria, a coordinated transmission solution which will include a 220kV roughly 100km transmission line and batteries.

The WiRES project is said to be in early stages of development. It is intended to unlock green energy supplies from the Wimmera, by connecting Warracknabeal to Bulgana.

WestWind Energy is a renewables developer based in Victoria. It has more than 2GW in operations or construction and claims to have a 10.5GW pipeline. WestWind is developer of the 1.33GW Golden Plains wind farm near Geelong and in 2022 sold the 756MW Stage One to TagEnergy when it was ready to build. WestWind’s pipeline of developments includes the Warracknabeal Energy Park, an up to 1.5GW wind farm.
