Terra One/Consilium launch solar/BESS JV
German BESS developer Terra One Climate Solutions and renewable energy company Consilium Gruppe have formed a joint venture to hybridise solar and BESS.
The co-location venture aims to deploy a pipeline of 200MW of solar and 150MW of BESS over the next three years, and will use AI to optimise trading and storage flexibility on the German market.
Berlin-based Terra One will support Consilium in optimising battery size, as well as design and integration. It will deploy proprietary machine-learning models and automated trading systems to place electricity and storage flexibility on intraday markets.
Consilium will oversee asset deployment, and will partly finance its expansion via its €10m Consilium solar bond 2025-2030, a 7% corporate bond issued by Consilium Project Finance.
The partnership aims to streamline grid connection costs and marketing revenues per installed megawatt, with Consilium’s investors gaining access to AI-supported resources previously reserved for largely institutional investors and utilities.
