Infranode takes BESS FID

Nordic infrastructure investor Infranode has reached the final investment decision on a 60MW co-located BESS at its Vanel III Solar Park in the Vejle municipality.

The site is owned by Danish estate Bregentved Gruppen, which is set to oversee operations and maintenance of the BESS through its subsidiary Unity Power. Bregentved will also own a minority equity stake in the project, which comprises six 10MW units with a two-hour duration.

Danish BESS developer Revv Energy will undertake asset delivery.

Construction is due to start this year and will utilise the site’s existing grid connection. It is expected to be the largest co-located BESS in the Nordics, according to Infranode.

The project was designed to expand renewable energy capacity and could potentially double it over time, said Max Engardt, investment director at Infranode.

Stockholm-based Infranode manages approximately €1.7bn on behalf of long-term institutional investors and pension funds.
