Greece-based Metlen Energy & Metals, formerly called Mytilineos, is considering selling its 2.9GW Australian portfolio, PFI has learnt. The company is not planning a total divestment from the country, PFI understands. Macquarie Capital is advising on the process, Reneweconomy reports.
Metlen’s Australian portfolio comprises eight operational solar farms, and development solar, battery storage and hydrogen projects. Operational solar assets include the 40MW Kingaroy Solar Farm in Queensland, 110MW Moura solar farm in Queensland, and 75MW Wyalong solar facility in New South Wales. The 150MW Munna Creek solar farm in Queensland is under construction. Metlen did not respond to a request for comment.
Development projects in the 2.9GW portfolio include the 250MW Mavis solar farm in NSW’s Central-West Orana renewable energy zone, with a final investment decision targeted in Q1. Metlen owns a 15% equity interest in CLARA Energy’s Rosedale green hydrogen project, which will supply long-haul trucks on the Hume Highway. The A$500m (US$338m) stage one would use 250MW of solar energy and produce 25 tonnes of green hydrogen per day.
