Florida-based renewables and thermal developer Vitis Energy has closed on loan and tax equity financing for the 200MW Apache Hill two-hour duration battery energy storage system in Hood County, Texas.

Societe Generale was coordinating lead arranger on a US$155m green loan and Greenprint Capital provided the tax equity investment. MasTec Renewables is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor, and Sungrow will supply the battery system.

Apache Hill is scheduled to start operations in July 2026 and will enhance the stability of the ERCOT grid. It will provide rapid-response energy storage, will help mitigate peak demand impact and integrate renewable energy sources.
