EMEA: Senegal - Kepco signs IPP
Korea Power Electric Power Corp (Kepco) has signed a deal with the government of Senegal to build a 250MW coal-fired power station at the cost of US$582m. The plant will be operational from 2015 and will be used for domestic purposes only. The cost will be split into debt and equity and will be financed by Kepco and Korea Development Bank. Kepco is currently waiting for guarantees from the government before going ahead with the project. Korea Development Bank will be providing a direct loan as well as will be coordinating a commercial bank loan.
