Egat to delay power purchases
Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) may delay the purchase of power from private producers in Thailand and elsewhere as demand for power is expected to slow down in current market conditions. A panel of executives from state utilities is currently revising the country's power development plan to reflect the weaker economic outlook. Due to the global economic slowdown, electricity demand is expected to grow by only 2% this year, half the rate forecast earlier.
