Ayala Corp, through its energy arm AC Energy, aims to achieve a total capacity of 2,000MW by 2020 with a commitment of some Ps80bn (US$1.66bn), according to AC Energy president John Eric Francia. He said the company was looking previously at investments of Ps40bn but decided to increase the amount to meet the additional target capacity. The company is expected to reach its 1,000MW attributable capacity target this year and an additional 1,000MW from renewable energy is targeted to be built in the next five years. These include a potential project in neighbouring Indonesia and also acquisitions and development of greenfield projects, both in the Philippines and Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam and Myanmar.
