Americas: US - Fitch evaluates solar project risk

The rapid decline in solar photovoltaic (PV) panel prices has placed increasing financial pressures on manufacturers and projects, and the swelling size of project installations to achieve aggressive renewable energy goals increases completion risk, according to a new report on solar risk from Fitch.  As pressures mount, few solar power manufacturers have an adequate level of financial strength to back warranty obligations for the full term of project finance debt, says Fitch.
