Prior to that, he worked for several large, regional newspapers and was business editor for two publications, the Rocky Mountain News in Denver and the Omaha World-Herald in Nebraska. Besides that, he has worked for Reuters and United Press International, covering business news.
Alan has won two national writing awards and a fellowship to Columbia University in New York, where he studied economics for an academic year.
